The Civil Aviation (Security) Act 1994 (as amended) is a stand-alone legislation that governs aviation security in Fiji. It is complemented by the Civil Aviation (Security) Regulations 1994 (as amended). The ICAO Annex 17 – Security SARPs are translated through these national legislations as law which are applicable to Fiji. Given the rapidly evolving nature of global aviation and emerging threats to civil aviation, Fiji is in the process of reviewing its legal framework to incorporate the new security amendments of ICAO Annex 17 – Security SARPs and to ensure that the legislations are robust enough to handle futuristic eventualities.
